- Translation
- Under this heading comes translation of text on technical and
general subjects from English, German and other Scandinavian languages into
Norwegian, and
from Norwegian into English. The finished translation is submitted in electronic form, or
by other agreement. Services may include the generation and maintenance of customer
specific glossaries, source language clean-up, formatting and layout, and general guidance
in the effective use of the immense wealth of features in Microsoft Word. Here,
you will also find a brief discourse on Computer Assisted Translation.
- Documentation
- Creation of User Guides for Windows-based application software, including help functions
for integration in the software. I use MS-Word (2000 preferred; 6.0/95 , 97
and XP also
available) for the authoring itself, while the help creation tools I use are RoboHelp or
Doc-to-Help according to client preference. The work is typically done in close
co-operation with your software developers, who will be required to produce a brief
functional description of the functionality, scope and purpose of the
software. Authoring language is English or Norwegian; translation to other languages
optional.
- Localisation
- Localisation of international software for the Norwegian market, including the
translation of user documentation, system documentation if applicable, help systems, as
well as software prompts, lead texts, menus, buttons and messages. An additional service
may be an initial feasibility study, into the suitability and potential of the software on
the Norwegian market, including competitor review and pricing advice.
